Project overview
Designing a sustainable fashion website was one of my assignments as a student at UXland School. In a team of two, we were tasked to design a website for desktop device focusing on User Interface with our creative ideas.
We defined RECOWEAR as a sustainable fashion brand with the “You look good; The planet feels good; We all win" tagline to encourage people to stay more sustainable while shopping for fashionable outfits.
Since this was a school concept project, we needed to define a hypothetical stakeholder at the beginning and consider his requirements and limitations throughout the process.
RECOWEAR
A sustainable fashion products retailer
Project process
Problem
Fashion is the third-largest industry in the world and has a significant environmental impact. Most people are tended toward using natural products today to reduce their environmental impact.
Compared with sustainable clothing, fast fashion is cheaper and can be sold faster. I found the most challenging aspect of this project to be persuading users to online shop for sustainable products with a smooth and intuitive design.
Values
My research suggests that there are some factors that may lead some people to choose sustainable products. The RECOWEAR business follows 8 values as part of its mission. As such, I must keep these factors in mind when designing for the benefit of both users and the business, allowing users to feel more at ease when visiting the website, as well as showing the business value proposition.
Goals
Design a user-friendly interface for the above-mentioned users
Spread the sustainability message with an easy-to-use interface
Pledging 1% of sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment
Where should I start tackling the problem?
Even though this project was a UI homework assignment, I felt I had to search to come up with a better design for my potential users so:
As a first step in solving the problem, I did basic research on suitability in the fashion industry and identified their users, lifestyles, goals, and values.
A second way to find opportunities and ideas was to analyze competitors' strengths and weaknesses.
Understanding users
At the beginning, we wanted to learn more about sustainability to better understand what our users want. So, we read articles and asked people questions through a survey to find out who our users are, what they like, and if they have any concerns about sustainable fashion. we sent the survey to 86 people and talked to 10 environmental activists and people who really care about sustainability.
Persona
As a result of the research, our team created a persona to communicate information about the users. Hanna's needs and preferences will guide the design.
Understanding the competition
To gain a better understanding of their different features and the competitors operating methods, I conducted a comparative analysis of some sustainable fashion stores. Here are some of the results:

Moodboard
The color palette we created was inspired by our moodboard. A warm color scheme reminiscent of natural materials is chosen depending on the user's taste and interests.

High fidelity wireframes
A few High Fidelity wireframes are shown below. It is important to note that the images used for this project came from Google or sustainable stores since it was a class project.
Reflections
What did I learn?
My first student project exposed me to the importance of understanding users' needs at every stage of the design process. The best way to gain this overview is by keeping track of all research findings and referring to them continually.
During this project, I learned to strike a balance between encouraging users to shop sustainably while considering their convenience.
It was interesting to discover that I enjoyed interaction design the most, and I'll continue to develop this skill.
